Fired from Job for Attending an FDC Supporter’s Funeral

Julius Tituryebwa, the now-former Community Liaisons Officer of SINO Minerals Investments Company Limited in Kabale, is accusing the company of firing him on political grounds.

Tituryebwa claims he was expelled from the company located in Buhara Sub County in Kabale, simply because he attended a burial of a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) staunch supporter in Kabale town.

In May 2019, SINO Minerals Investments Company Limited started a multi-billion-shilling iron ore smelting plant in Buhara Sub County.

Tituryebwa who claims to have been employed with the company as its Community Liaisons Officer since 25th August 2019, says on March 25th, this year, he received a phone call from the Kabale District Chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa who asked him whether he was still interested in his job or not.

He says he was questioned by Keihwa on why on 18th March 2020 he attended the burial ceremony of Wilbroad Mucholi Ndyanabangi in Rushambya cell in Southern Division of Kabale Municipality.

The funeral was also attended by FDC strongman Col Dr Kiiza Besigye.

Tituryebwa says on the phone, the district chairman asked him to denounce FDC or lose his job.

The following day on 26th March 2020 he says he received an expulsion letter from Kong Dongsheng, the executive director SINO Minerals Investments Company Limited.
